  1. The National Centre for Public Sector Innovation provides a guide to evaluating public sector innovation with supporting diagrams for evaluation. This Toolkit has many strengths and although it is aimed at policy makers I believe that anyone working within innovation would get something beneficial out of this toolkit.
    Overall, the guide leads us through the four steps of evaluation; clarify, plan, collect-analyse-conclude, use it. These four steps are indicated in a very clear way which makes the toolkit very easy to read and straight to the point. Each step includes a justification for the need of it, and questions to ask ourselves which provide something that could look like a check list but leave the freedom to be used as a starting point for a wider discussion. Finally, during the third step, collect-analyse-conclude, some methods for evaluation are explained and analyse. These also are described in a very user-friendly manner where at the beginning of each you can find the method in brief, what it is good for, what to watch out for, the type of data it will give, the use of resources needed and the time to delivery. The main strength of this toolkit is that it is very user-friendly but not only, it also provides very valuable and supportive framework for innovative evaluation.

In this sense, the Denmark National Center for Public Sector Innovation offers two documents to guide the evaluation of public sector innovation. The first is a comprehensive guide divided into 4 sections, and its construction is very straight-forward as the most important ones in the assessment are made very visible: clarify, plan, collect/analyze/conclude, and use. It is thus explained how to carry out a complete and effective evaluation in a clear manner. In addition, this guide offers a review of the different existing data collection methods (qualitative and quantitative). This toolkit is therefore a guide to facilitate the process. The second document makes it possible to implement the theory: it offers its user the possibility of answering various questions in order to evaluate their specific innovation as precisely as possible, according to the different stages: clarify, plan, collect/analyze/conclude, and use. This system of questions and adaptation to the user makes the uniqueness of this toolkit and is extremely useful. Furthermore, this toolkit combines written recommendations with graphic designs and some videos and the diversity of the components makes it easier to rely on.
    In fact, this toolkit is intended particularly for innovation professionals in the public sector, who need to evaluate a specific project. However, by its design, this toolkit also seems to be able to be useful to different audiences such as researchers in public policy who need to evaluate certain actions, or students in public affairs who need to understand how to effectively evaluate innovation. in the public sector. The use of the toolkit is pleasant and it is designed to be adapted to the daily life of the professional.
